Some Android devices come with Gemini as the primary assistant out of the box.

On these devices, to get started with Gemini, open the Gemini app or activate Gemini by touch (such as long-pressing the power button or swiping up from the corner of your screen).

On other Android devices, you can also download the Gemini app from the Google Play Store or choose to switch to Gemini as your primary mobile assistant.

Step 1: On your Android phone, open Google Messages and start a conversation.

Tip: Make sure that your message has 'message' in the compose row.

Step 2: Select the Magic Compose icon to bring up writing style options.

Step 3: Select the suggestion that you want to use. You can choose from Remix (rephrase), Shakespeare, Chill, Excited, Lyrical and Formal.

Step 4: When you're ready to send, tap Send.

Smart actions in Android Auto consist of AI-supported summaries of group messages or long messages that are read aloud.
